Kristina & Paul’s Elopement Wedding

Eager to tie the knot and avoid months of planning, Kristina and Paul planned their elopement wedding just a few short days after her return from an extended trip in South America. The weather forecast included 100% chance of rain along with wind, flash flood, AND tornado warnings but they were not deterred! The back porch of their mountain cabin in Franklin, NC provided a dry and intimate setting for their wedding ceremony.

Winter Storm “Pax” Blankets Asheville in Snow

Over the past 48 hours, winter storm “Pax” has covered the southeast in a thick blanket of snow and ice. Fortunately for Asheville, snow has been much more prominent and transformed the town into a winter playground for those wanting to explore it’s hills and streets (myself included). Last night downtown Asheville was largely abandoned except for the adventurous bipeds, their mascots, and various forms of alternative transportation…sleds, skis, snowboards, and inner-tubes.

Arrested Development @ The Orange Peel :: 08.27.2012

While I’ve seen them perform several times before, Arrested Development never ceases to amaze me and always puts on a fantastic show. The classic hip-hop group from Atlanta, GA played to a packed house at The Orange Peel in downtown Asheville on August 27th. The local opening acts, Zansa and Asheville Horns, aren’t to be overlooked either and certainly did a helluva job to setup Arrested Development for the win.

Toubab Krewe Carnavalito @ Pisgah Brewing :: 07.14.2012

Shooting concerts is always fun, but when the venue is an outdoor mini-festival at a local brewery and the headliners are schoolmates, it feels more like shooting a friend’s wedding reception in their backyard. Good beer, great people, and even better music makes for a winning combination every time.

tUnE-yArDs @ The Orange Peel :: 06.06.2012

It’s always a welcomed surprise when I shoot an unfamiliar band or musician and end up blown away. Twice in one night is especially rare. Last month I filled in at the Orange Peel to shoot tUnE-yArDs and Mariachi El Bronx. I knew very little about tUnE-yArDs and absolutely nothing about Mariachi El Bronx. Mariachi El Bronx opened up with some serious gusto. Think Calexico with the urban swagger and machismo of Paul Wall. tUnE-yArDs closed out the night with truly refreshing compositions of layered vocal loops and percussion. Here’s a slice of the evening…
